An acid is any chemical compound that has a PH greater than 7.0. Acids donate hydrogen ions when reacted with bases. Acid/Base reactions produce salts.

Significance to Martian Settlement

The production and use of acid is vital to an autonomous or semi-autonomous settlement. Acids are used in everything from food preservation to medicine to industry.
