Bio-technologies are likely to be required in the development of food and materials production on Mars. Biological reactors are also common in potable water treatment and waste water treatment. Bio-technologies of interest for Mars are:

  • Food production
    • Fermentation (bread, beer and wine)
    • Carbohydrates
  • Plastics production
  • Hydrocarbons
  • Photobioreactors
