- If one designs a pressure vessel to contain 0.5 atmospheres pressure, as might be adequate for a greenhouse, then the atmospheric pressure of Mars, 0.01 atmospheres helps to hold that pressure in so that the differential pressure is 0.49 atmospheres, or 98% of differential pressure for building such a greenhouse in a vacuum.
