Hope Probe, entered Mars orbit February 9, 2021 after being launched on July 19, 2020. It's initial orbit (insertion orbit) is 1,000 km by 49,380 Km with a period of 40 hours. In contrast, Hope's science orbit is planned to be 22,000 by 43,000 Km with a period of 55 hours. The probe's main objective is to study the atmosphere with three instruments.[1] Hope has a mass of 1,350 Kg (with fuel) and is 3 meters by 7.9 meters when solar panels are extended. Solar panels supply 600 Wats of power.[2] This is the first mission to Mars for the United Arab Emirates.[3]

A report from May, stated that The Hope probe turned on its instruments on April 10, and has so far sent back thousands of images.

It will now take two years collecting extensive measurements on gases, especially hydrogen, oxygen and carbon monoxide, that lie in the upper atmosphere.[4]
