The Sabatier reaction will be used to convert Hydrogen shipped from Earth or processed from Marsian waterice and Carbondioxide from the Marsian atmosphere to create methane for use as a fuel and water, which can be converted to Hydrogen.

CO2 + 4H2 → CH4 + 2H2O
