Is there really a controversy? The burial of remnants in soil is best practice on Earth (and so it is with cremation). I have specified the powder burial more precisely, so that vegetables are no longer in contact. Possibly your "moral question" must be updated. -- [[User:Rfc|Rfc]] 08:18, 17 December 2007 (UTC)

:Apologies, I didn't mean to leave the "controversial" tag on this article, I was using it as a test for the template. I will remove it now. Feel free to change the "Moral Question" tag with an answer, if not remove it all together. -- [[User:Ioneill|Ioneill]] 09:50, 17 December 2007 (UTC)

::Ooops, I didn't recognize your comment "controversial tag for fun". Okay, how do we go on with question tags in general? I would not feel very comfortable with changing the article's text and removing the tag, because I might got the question wrong or I did not see every aspect of the question. May be, the changed article text provokes more or different questions. Therefore, I would like to leave it to the inquirer to either remove or alter the posed question. -- [[User:Rfc|Rfc]] 10:16, 17 December 2007 (UTC)

:::Well, the "question tags" are by no means a ''finished product'', I'm not even sure if they will be used very much. They will be useful however, once we have a lot of contributors, who can raise questions when and where they wish. So, feel free to answer the question, by putting an "answer" directly underneath with your signed name (just 3 tildas - <nowiki>~~~</nowiki>). If it doesnt look right, we can simply remove the tag. Use your judgement, it's good to test these things out. If it provokes more questions, then that is fantastic! It will be superb to have some good debates over hard-to-solve problems :-) -- [[User:Ioneill|Ioneill]] 20:58, 17 December 2007 (UTC)

::Actually, I find the talk page is the right place for discussion. To raise questions on the article page is fine, but the discussion about this question should be on the talk page. Rather, there was research conducted for some years since ~2000, gathering of public opinion, but except for 1 town (acording to much reposted news entry), does not look like this practice has gained much ground.

Funerals are generally religious ceremonies intended as a final "good bye" to loved ones. How will a colony on Mars carry out the rites of the dead? -- Ioneill 05:34, 17 December 2007 (UTC)

Controversy?

Is there really a controversy? The burial of remnants in soil is best practice on Earth (and so it is with cremation). I have specified the powder burial more precisely, so that vegetables are no longer in contact. Possibly your "moral question" must be updated. -- Rfc 08:18, 17 December 2007 (UTC)

Apologies, I didn't mean to leave the "controversial" tag on this article, I was using it as a test for the template. I will remove it now. Feel free to change the "Moral Question" tag with an answer, if not remove it all together. -- Ioneill 09:50, 17 December 2007 (UTC)

"Would settlers be happy with eating vegetables grown from the remnants of their dead crewmates? - Ioneill
This problem can be avoided by having separate sections in the greenhouses - one for food production, another for funerals. - Ioneill" Please see the ongoing discussion on the talk page...
