Crew 169 - Team Peru IV
Elizabeth Cancino, Crew Commander
My name is Elizabeth Centurion Cancino and I was born on April 21, 1993 in Arequipa, Peru. I have a degree in Mechatronics Engineering from the Pontifical Catholic University of Peru and I work in Komatsu-Mitsui Maquinarias Peru, an official distributor of Komatsu brand of heavy machinery and Cummins brand of power generation equipment engines in Peru. My areas of interest are the Spaceflight projects, aeronautic design, renewable energy and control/automation systems. I understand the importance of applying mechatronics knowledge to make projects related to the space a reality but also I think we need to know about other sciences like physics, biology, chemistry etc. to have success. For that reason I took some courses and participated in trainings about space sciences in the university, managing to be part of one of the exhibitors at the "Science Tunnel - Tour Peru 2014". I was coordinator of the first Association of Students and graduated of Mechatronics engineering of the Pontifical Catholic University and be part of the organizers of the first Mechatronic National Congress. As extracurricular activities, I am a founder/coordinator of a Volunteer group called "Km.Veintidos" which works to improve education in vulnerable areas and I am an active member of a group of typical dances from Peru. With my participation in MDRS, I want to exchange knowledge with other researches and hope it can encourage other students to pursue their dreams.
Orson Lazo
Orson Lazo is a mechatronic engineer of the “Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú” (PUCP), he searching to specialize in automation and control. He was born in Huancayo-Peru in 1988 and he moved to Lima-Peru in 2001. He entered to the university in 2007 for him to study electronic engineering. Since that year he participated in different projects for develop technology. In two thousand eight, he was part of the team that created the RAS in the PUCP (Robotics and automation society), a technical chapter of the IEEE (institute of electrical and electronics engineers). In this group, they investigated about mobile robots unmanned for different applications. In two thousand nine he participated in the NRO (National Robot Olympiad) with 3 friends and he with his group won the first place. For this reason they traveled to South Korea to participating in the WRO (World Robot Olympiad), where they represented to Peru. The challenged was create a robot through the use of the Lego Mindstorms platform that it could resolve a specific problem: find many balls of two colors red and blue, and put the balls in their respective colored holes. The competition was with teams of all the world. The experience was rewarding because they saw the level of develop of the engineering and therefore he was inspired. For this reason in two thousand ten, he change of career to mechatronic engineering. The mechatronic engineering is the synergy that combine mechanic, electronic and informatics systems, to create systems that respond to common problems. The career is very exciting because you can to create different designs, work with different technologies and implement new machines. In two thousand eleven, he worked with a big group (approx. seventy members) of partners of different careers: physical, chemical, electronic, mechanic and industry engineers, and they worked anew for improve the scope of the RAS, and he was elected president of the RAS for period two thousand eleven – two thousand twelve. In two thousand thirteen he was part of the robotics team that represented the PUCP in Latin American Robotics Competition (LARC), which consisted create a robot that can collect waste on uneven ground, such as a beach. In addition he created his company of engineering (develop mechatronics projects for give automation solutions to the entrepreneurs) with the name: “MKTR Ingenieros SAC”.
After, in two thousand fourteen, he worked in the Research Interdisciplinary Laboratory with Gustavo Kato PhD and Francisco Cuellar PhD, doctors in robotics and directors of the laboratory. In that place he work currently, and he is developing different projects with the support of the FINCyT (FINCyT is a program of science and technology of the Peruvian government and the Interamerican Development Bank). For example his thesis for his graduation is a project where the PUCP and NOVA are partners (Nova is a company of manufacturing of machines for bakery) which consisted in design and implementation of an automated welding station. This station has a robot arm, a welding system automated and a positioner that add 3 degrees of freedom to robot arm. He designed the positioner and now he is being trained in the manipulation and control of the robot arm and he is coordinating with the team of the project for fabricated the positioner. Nowadays he is working in other project where the PUCP and the company Liderman are partners (Liderman is a company that offer security services through watchers) and they want to build a humanoid robot that can help watchers. He is very interested in this program of Mars Society because when you see the resources that needed all the people, you understand that this natural resources will end. For this reason, for the development of the humanity, we need to explore other world and discover more resources.
Nolver W. Huaman
Nolver W. Huaman is studying chemical engineering Pedro Ruiz Gallo National University of Lambayeque - Peru, and hopes to specialize in the area of biotechnology. He is currently regional coordinator of the Peruvian Network of Young Scientists in Lambayeque Divulgers organization to which it belongs for 2 years approximately, which conducts science. It also shows great interest in space exploration. He likes sports, reading or anything else that involves learning something.
Marcos Bruno
Marcos Bruno is a 20 years old mechatronics engineering student from Mendoza, Argentina. He studies at Universidad Nacional de Cuyo. Since he was a kid, he has loved everything related with science, especially space exploration. He is astonished by the fact that the human has reached a level of knowledge which we began to explore our neighboring planets, and perhaps one day, even beyond. The only thing he loves as much as science is music. He plays guitar, bass, drums and ukulele. When he can, he doesn’t miss any concert or festival. He loves every genre of music and he has a lot of favorite bands. He also likes to learn languages. He has a B1 German language level and he is currently learning French. He has attended Space Congresses and workshops, in which he sent a report to the United Nations Committee on the Peaceful uses of Outer Space (UN COPUOS). He dreams of making a South American space agency to unite all the knowledge that this incredible region of the world has to offer. At his free time, he likes to play and listen to music, read scientific divulgation books, and meet with foreign people passing by Mendoza to show them the city.
Luis Pachón
Luis Felipe Ibañez Pachón was born in Colombia in 1993. He is an aeronautical engineering student from San Buenaventura University at Bogotá, Colombia and there he has been enrolled as the secretary of the AIAA student branch and worked for 2 years as leader of GIAS ( Aerospace research group) where he was a participant of projects of rocketry, propulsion systems, electronics and data systems and some social activities with kids to share science and technology. The union of science and technology was the reason that makes him love engineering and be related with projects like: UAV for DBF-AIAA 2015 challenge (design, build and fly), aerodynamics and control simulation using CFD and the design and construction of a three stage rocket to reach 9km over sea level. He has worked with industries related with industrial tools like a Colombian supplier for petroleum industry called DISMAR and CIAC (Aeronautic industry corporation of Colombia) where he is working as an internship engineer at the production area. He is lover of drawing, arts, basketball and jazz and rock music and, for a few months, he was a volunteer of TECHO, a volunteer organization that provide houses to families with not enough money.
