Overview

The official logo for the Phoenix Mars Mission.
NASA's Phoenix Mars Mission is due for launch in August 2007.

This is the first lander in NASA's "Scout class". Intended to analyse the Martian surface for water (as mapped by the Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter), the Phoenix Mars Mission will test the Martian environment to provide data for future manned habitation of the planet. This is the first such lander to carry out these landmark tests.
