EVA 2

May 3, 2016

Time Slot: laterAM

Purpose: Take an amount of soil to use it in experiments at the inside of the Hab because maintenance of the Green hab.

Following the instructions from Earth we used for the first time the ATV's learning how to use it.

Narrative: The today's EVA was specially for the crew members who are working for green hab projects with beans (rabish and Prosopis pallida) using Earth soil at Hab conditions and Mars soil. The activity started at 2 pm with 5 minutes of airlock waiting. The members involved at this EVA were: Elizabeth (Commander)and Nolver (Green hab officer) who took the soil inside the hab. Also, following instructions from Earth, Orson (Crew engineer) took an introduction of the ATV's and learned to use it, then he shared the information with each one of the members.

Time Slot: Later AM

Purpose:

First test with Rover #1 (Marcos's Rover), testing the drill, cameras and movement at a easy surface.

Narrative:

The EVA started at 930 when Marcos and his rover get ready to be for the first time at Mars. The second rover director (Celeste) went with Marcos to see the surface that will be tested by her rover too in a few days. During the EVA Marcos tested his connections, stability of his rover, drill operation and camera support work. The EVA finished at 1039.

EVA 7

Time Slot: laterAM

Purpose: Due to Orson's Project he need to measure the electricity produced by upper body muscles and back.

Narrative: Since 9:30 Orson and Nolver where ready to stay in the airlock and went to the indicated place where Orson simulate some movements as an astronaut carrying and using as much as he can his back and upper body muscles. Nolver also use the EVA to explore the vegetation and flora of Mars surface.

Purpose: Test rover streaming of video using the own router.

Taking measurements of air direction

Narrative: The EVA started at 14:45 Luis and Marcos went to different coordinates in a radio of 100 mts from hab trying to place the most clear points to indicate the falling of connection and the points with the air direction.

Time Slot: early AM

Purpose: Test Celeste's rover for different Mars surfaces.

Narrative: At 9:45 AM Celeste (Journalist) and Orson (Crew engineer) started the way to the close terrain surfaces where Celeste decided to test his rover's movements. They were testing all the freedom degrees and displacements of the rover at surfaces close to the Hab.

EVA 12 & 13

Time Slot: unknown

Purpose: It was 2 EVA's to Test Celeste's Rover and Marcos's rover in surfaces up of 10 degrees.

Narrative: The First EVA was for Celeste and Orson to test Celeste's rover, Marcos and Luis stay inside because of the video for the productions Cowboy Bear Ninja who will create a 360 video of all the MDRS. This first EVA start at 9:15 and finished at 12:10, where Celeste's rover could climb and tested successful. At the afternoon, Marcos go out with Luis and Orson to help the video creators with some pictures of ATV's use just at the side of the Hab. At the end of the filming and interviews, Marcos test again the signal for control of his rover. The EVA started at 14:10 and finished at 17:08.

EVA 14

Time Slot: unknown

Purpose: Test Celeste's rover in a close zone with other configuration of movement and servomotors operations.

Narrative: At 9:15 Orson and Celeste went to the surface at behind of the Hab (water tanks place) where they could plug computers and electronic devices to test other codes for the movement of the rover on Mars surfaces. At 10:00 Jeel and Marcos where out to test again the range of the router and the connection for video transmission and the use of rover at distance, both test where successful. Celeste will have to make some changes to the connections of her rover but it's not a big problem. At 11:40 All four crew members returned to Hab.
