Acetylene molecule

Acetylene is a hydrocarbon gas. Its chemical formulae is C2H2. Acetylene has many uses in the chemical industry, notably as a precursor molecule for vinyl chloride, itself a precursor for Polivinyl chloride, or PVC.

In situ production

Acetylene can be produced from the partial combustion of methane. It is also a side product of the production of ethylene.
