The 105 days simulation is part of the Mars-500 project. During a period of 105 days a crew of 6 persons lived and worked in an isolated analog station with the interior outfit of a space vessel. The idea was a psychological simulation of the long journey to Mars. The simulation took place in Moscow (Russia).[1][2]

This simulation will be followed by a 520 days simulation late in 2009.

Data

  • Responsible organizations: ESA, DLR, Roskosmos
  • crew: 6 male persons
  • Financial effort: 15 Million Euro
  • Start: March 31st 2009
  • End: July 14th 2009

Results

The simulation was a success. No major problems occurred. Several measurements were performed during the simulation: Metabolism output, blood pressure, etc.
