Smoke is created by fire, smouldering and some production processes. It is poisonous, and it is hard to filter out. In a Martian habitat the creation of smoke must be avoided.
Tobacco
Is strictly prohibited.
Fire protection
- Selection of fire-proof material for construction, as well as for thermal and electrical insulation
- Oxygen reduction
- Automatic fire extinguishing system
Production processes
Some high temperature processes create smoke. Those processes must be taken care of. Vacuum technology and strictly separated rooms are inevitable. The following processes are affected:
