The term Global warming refers to the gradual rise in average global temperatures on Earth due to human activity. Largely attributed to the greenhouse effect, gases with insulating properties cause reflection of long-wave Electromagnetic waves. Greenhouse gases include carbon dioxide, water vapour and methane. Various industries produce Super Greenhouse Gases which are thousands of times more powerful than carbon dioxide, which are also a concern on Earth (on Mars they would be welcome).

The advanced theory on terraforming Mars requires artificial injection of greenhouse gases to promote global warming on the Red Planet to create temperatures to sustain life on the surface. Super Greenhouse Gases such as CF4, C2F6, SF6 and others, are long lasting gases which are thousands of time better at retaining heat than carbon dioxide.

Martian Dust absorbs energy from the sun, warming the air by convection, and acts as a low grade green house particle. Greenhouse nano-particles are carefully engineered artificial dust which can strongly warm Mars.

Note that as Mars warms, it will out gas more carbon dioxide and water vapour which are both Greenhouse gases. This results in a positive feedback loop.
