Pixel is a cat who was found at the Mars Society's Mars Desert Research Station and adopted by its crews as a mascot.
In addition to discouraging desert rats from making the MDRS their home, Pixel has been a morale boost to sim crews, and provides an argument in favor of having one or more domestic animals at a real-world outpost[1].
