Spices are dried plant powders or seeds that are added to food to impart flavor. They do not typically add nutrition, but some show antimicrobial properties, possibly aiding in food preservation. Many spices are easily grown in greenhouses or small containers. Like Herbs, spices will be an important part of life for settlers, raising morale by adding variety to food. Spices are a possible commodity for inter-settlement commerce.
