Suitupshowup's real name is Jim Secosky. Jim is a retired teacher from Bloomfield Central School and Finger Lakes Community College. He has an M.A. from S.U.N.Y. Geneseo. As an amateur he used the Hubble Space Telescope (HST), Mars Global Surveyor, and the Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter. His research on Io with HST was published in Icarus. In 2008, 2013, 2020, 2021, and 2022 he gave talks at the Mars Society Convention. He served as executive officer for Crew 64 at the MDRS.
A wannabe astronaut, he has had to just settle for studying the planet from orbit. NASA has used over 6000 of his suggestions for spots to examine with orbiting cameras. Over 170 of those pictures were named HiRISE picture of the day. Wanting to show the world what Mars actually looks like, Secosky has written hundreds of articles for Wikipedia and Marspedia, and has posted thousands of pictures to his Facebook page.
On Marspedia, Jim has written extensively on the geology and geography of Mars. He has written for all parts of the Mars Atlas.
Some of the articles I worked on are: Geography of Mars, High Resolution Imaging Science Experiment (HiRISE), Mars Global Surveyor , MAVEN, Rivers on Mars,Tharsis, Water, Glaciers on Mars,How living on Mars will be different than living on Earth, Martian features that are signs of water ice, Oceans on Mars, HiWish program, Martian gullies, Layers on Mars, Ismenius Lacus quadrangle, *Dark slope streaks, Geography of Mars, How are features on Mars Named?, Aeolis quadrangle, Cebrenia quadrangle, Diacria quadrangle, Hellas Planitia, Lunae Palus quadrangle, Oxia Palus quadrangle, Tharsis, Valles Marineris, What Mars Actually Looks Like!, Dust devils, How living on Mars will be different than living on Earth, Sublimation landscapes on Mars,Opportunity, Geological processes that have shaped Mars: Why Mars looks like it does
